Job Summary
The Personal Property Clerk serves as a primary point of contact for Ohio County taxpayers, providing professional customer service while maintaining the integrity of county tax records. This role requires a high level of accuracy in data entry, the ability to navigate specialized tax software, and a commitment to helping the public understand their property assessments and tax obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Management: Create and maintain accurate accounts within the Tax Assessment Software; input property returns and generate supplemental tax bills with a high degree of precision.
- Public Assistance: Serve taxpayers at the office counter and over the phone, addressing inquiries regarding tax bills, property values, and filing procedures.
- Professional Correspondence: Communicate effectively with a diverse population; including individual taxpayers, attorneys, and corporate representatives.
- Administrative Support: Perform essential office functions including high-volume scanning, filing, faxing, and digital record-keeping.
- Procedural Compliance: Follow specific legal procedures and detailed instructions under close supervision to ensure all tax assessments meet county and state standards.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills with the ability to operate multiple software systems simultaneously; fast and accurate alphanumeric data entry is essential.
- Communication Excellence: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to remain professional and helpful in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.
- Organization: Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once and adapt quickly to changing daily demands.

- Education/Experience: Familiarity with general office procedures and a high school diploma or equivalent (previous experience in government or tax services is a plus).

Pay: From $35,000.00 per year
