We are seeking direct support professional to assist an individual with developmental disabilities working toward achieving his GED, with future aspirations of attending college. The individual is currently seeking a dedicated, personable, and supportive Personal Support Staff member to assist him on this journey. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others succeed academically and is comfortable working closely one-on-one.
Responsibilities:

Provide academic support and encouragement to individual as he prepares for his GED

Assist with attending classes (both in-person and online), including transportation or coordination if needed

Help study and understand the materials presented in class

Work alongside Phillip to develop good study habits and learning strategies

Communicate in a respectful, clear, and supportive way

Foster a positive and empowering learning environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Passion for education, tutoring, or mentoring

Familiarity with GED subjects (math, science, social studies, reading, and writing)

Patience and the ability to explain concepts in a relatable, easy-to-understand way

Reliable, punctual, and organized

High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Valid Non-Provisional Driver’s License.

Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19.

Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is a plus but not required.

Strong communication skills, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Must pass background checks and any required training certifications.

Willing and able to transport individuals with disabilities using a company vehicle and/or your personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement), within Montgomery County and the surrounding Washington, D.C. metro area
