POSITION SUMMARY
The Personnel Security Specialist is responsible for administering the personnel security and visitor control program activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned)
- Reviews, submits, and tracks Questionnaire for Sensitive Position packages
- Provides guidance to prime contractor procurement representatives to process and track Facility Clearance and Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence submissions
- Inputs, tracks, and maintains all applicable security databases and spreadsheets for assigned companies (and their subcontractors) and ensures accuracy
- Serves as the registrar and/or sponsor for site personnel HSPD-12 credentials which can be a discretional and independent judgement call
- Fabricates/activates the appropriate badge and grants access from approved requests for visitor access to Property Protection Areas and Limited Areas per site security procedures
- Coordinates foreign national visits and assignments
- Submits requests for incoming and outgoing classified visits
- Ability to produce/review technical plans, orders, and reports under short suspense
- Supports the Counterintelligence program by facilitating foreign travel briefings and reporting travel to sensitive countries for site personnel
- Terminates automated access for personnel, as instructed by management
- Deactivate and destroy badges that are no longer required
- Provides assistance to site personnel for access and/or clearance requirements
- Maintains and submits related record files in accordance with procedures
- Subject to work Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday depending on weekly office schedules
- Provides exceptional customer service and displays professionalism at all times
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND KEY COMPETENCIES
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years position related experience
- Familiarization with the DOE Safeguards & Security Personnel Security and Badging programs
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) “Q” security clearance
- Capable of working in a fast paced and highly demanding office environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
TRAINING, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must be a citizen of the United States (U.S.) and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government vehicle
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to meet the physical capacity requirements of this position as determined by the Occupational Medical Provider
- Able to wear company-provided personal protection equipment if/when required
