This position is eligible for the Recruitment and Retention Pay Differential (Pay Diff #240) of $2400-$4800 yearly after 12 qualifying pay periods.

Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager II, Personnel Officer, the Personnel Supervisor (Sup) I is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing Personnel Specialists performing Transactions Unit work. This position serves as the expert staff resource responsible for the most difficult and complex personnel/payroll issues which includes researching critical personnel problems and recommending alternative solutions; developing and maintaining specialized training programs; reviewing various control agency letters, memos, and bargaining contract provisions, and assisting with developing and revising internal procedures; preparing management reports, spreadsheets, and charts; drafting communication; functioning as a team member on personnel-related projects; and coordinating a variety of personnel/payroll programs. Act as the Health Benefit Officer, CSPS DART Reporting and Training Coordinator, and State Controller's Office (SCO) Security Monitor.

Note:
Posted salaries do not reflect the 2 - 4.62% pay reduction in exchange for 3.5 – 8 hours per month of leave arising from the Personal Leave Program 2025. Information related to salary reductions is available in Section 2113 of the CalHR Human Resources Manual.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the State Lands Commission policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

The successful candidate will be required to be in the office up to five days a week until the training or probation period is complete.
