We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Personnel Technician to support civil service processes and employee onboarding. Position Overview

The Personnel Technician plays an essential role in administering civil service procedures, supporting recruitment activities, and coordinating onboarding for new employees. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full-cycle onboarding for new hires, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
  • Assist with recruitment activities such as screening applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain personnel records, documentation, and HR data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Respond to employee and supervisor inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and civil service rules.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to support personnel transactions, benefits processing, and policy implementation.
  • Assist with audits, reports, and special HR projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous Human Resources experience, preferably in a public agency or civil service environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR practices, recruitment procedures, and employment law.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and common office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a civil service system.
  • Familiarity with public-sector recruitment and testing processes.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
