Overview
Seeking part Time help, which could evolve into full time help as Pet Care Assistant.
This paid position offers an opportunity to work closely with animals, supporting their health and well-being by providing walks, hikes and potentially overnight care. If you like getting paid to exercise and play with animals, specifically doga/cats this role might be perfect for you!
Duties
- Assist with animal intake, discharge, and daily care routines, ensuring each pet’s comfort and safety
- Handle animals using proper restraint techniques to facilitate examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Administer medications and treatments accurately as directed by pet owners
- Maintain detailed records of animal bowl movements, provide updates throughout the day on pets well being with clients
- Picking up and dropping off of pet clients as needed-car provided as needed
- Provide a daily log of work completed to manager and inform/update manager of any changes to schedule, or pets needs
- Mundane pet errands as requested from manager
- Daily schedule of walks and hikes will be worked on together with manager beginning of week
- Light admin work required
- Light errands may be requested, I.E gas runs, equipment drop off, maintenance of supplies/inventory checks
- Assistance with cleaning designated dog space as needed
- Must be flexible and ready for on the fly changes
Requirements
- Must have clean driving record
- Must have clean background check
- Must have references for prior dog walking/pet care
- Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or pet care environment is highly preferred
- Must be clean, timely, honest, polite and professional.
- Must have people skills and ability to keep to schedule without being rude or disingenuous to clients
- Experience with animal handling, dog handling
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely and effectively for various procedures
- Understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, and basic veterinary concepts
- Common sense-if you see something say something
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with pet owners and team members
- Must be detail-oriented with the ability to follow precise instructions for medication administration and record keeping
