Pet Care Team Lead

Job Listing: Pet Care Team Lead

Location: Adair Park, Atlanta, GA
Job Type: Full-Time (Part-Time considered)
Pay: $18/hr + growth opportunities

About the Role

We are a small but growing pet care business looking for a Pet Care Team Lead to support our day-to-day operations across both our field services and our kennel facility.

This is a hands-on leadership role, meaning you will spend the majority of your time actively providing pet care services—dog walking, pet transportation, in-home visits, and assisting in our kennel—while also helping guide the team and ensure a high standard of service.

This is not a desk-based management position. The right candidate leads by example, is highly reliable, and enjoys being actively involved in all aspects of pet care.

Key ResponsibilitiesHands-On Pet Care (Primary Focus)

  • Perform daily dog walks, pet transportation, and in-home pet care visits
  • Assist with kennel operations, including feeding, cleaning, medication administration, and supervising playtime
  • Safely handle pets of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
  • Monitor pet health and behavior and report concerns as needed
  • Drive in city conditions (traffic, rain, tight parking) for client visits
  • Work in all weather conditions while maintaining high-quality care

Team Leadership & Support

  • Act as the go-to person for team members during shifts (field and facility)
  • Help train and onboard new staff
  • Support scheduling, routing, and shift coverage as needed
  • Lead by example in professionalism, reliability, and quality of care
  • Communicate issues or improvements to management proactively

Operations & Customer Experience

  • Help ensure smooth daily operations across field services and kennel
  • Assist with client communication when needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicles, equipment, and facility
  • Monitor supplies and flag operational needs

Schedule & Compensation

  • Approximately 40 hours per week with overtime opportunities
  • Schedule may include a mix of weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on business needs

What This Role Is (and Isn’t)

  • ✅ A working leadership role with growth potential
  • ✅ A mix of field work and kennel support
  • ✅ A pathway to future management opportunities
  • ❌ Not a role where you delegate most of the physical work
  • ❌ Not a primarily administrative or office-based position

What We Offer

  • Consistent full-time hours with overtime opportunities
  • Retirement plan (up to 3% match)
  • Mileage reimbursement for work-related driving
  • Performance bonuses + profit sharing opportunities
  • Free or discounted pet care (with some restrictions)
  • Quarterly team lunches and appreciation events
  • Growth opportunities within a scaling small business

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous hands-on pet care experience required (kennel + field preferred)
  • Natural leader who is comfortable guiding others while doing the work alongside them
  • Highly reliable and interested in long-term growth
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working long, active shifts on your feet
  • Confident driver with a clean record
  • Able to stay calm in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow systems precisely (use the word “fetch” in your application so we know you read this!)
  • Comfortable with physically demanding work (lifting, cleaning, handling difficult pets, all weather conditions)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Employee assistance program
  • Employee discount
  • On-the-job training
  • Retirement plan

  • Are you comfortable working with or learning how to work with some dogs that have behavioral issues (examples include: dogs that take time to warm up to new people, may nip without proper handling techniques, are aggressive towards other dogs, exhibit leash aggression)?
  • Are you available nights, weekends and holidays?
  • Would you consider yourself someone who is always early, always right on time, or sometimes a few minutes late?

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
