Pet Sitter/Dog Walker

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pet Sitter/Dog Walker that LIVES in Shelbyville, KY or Shelby County, KY area to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and the ability to provide exceptional care while ensuring the safety and well-being of our furry clients. This role involves caring for and walking dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments, offering companionship, exercise, and attention to each pet during their walks. This position also includes pet sitting for cats and other pets.

Responsibilities

• Walk dogs in a safe and controlled manner, ensuring they receive adequate exercise and socialization.
• Monitor the behavior and health of each dog during walks, reporting any concerns to the owner.
• Maintain control over dogs at all times, utilizing proper dog handling techniques.
• Ensure that all dogs are leashed securely and safely before leaving the premises.
• Provide fun and safe socialization for all pets
• Clean up after dogs during walks to maintain a clean environment. Scoop cat boxes as needed.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pet’s behavior and needs.
• Assist with additional animal care tasks as needed, such as feeding or administering medications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

-Must be at least 21 years of age & be able to pass a federal background check
- Have at least 5 years of experience in animal care, particularly with dogs.
- Passion for working with animals and understanding their needs.
- Ability to handle various dog breeds with care and confidence.
- Strong customer service skills to ensure client satisfaction.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Smartphone proficiency for utilizing pet care scheduling app.

Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Background in veterinary assistance or animal training.
- Previous experience in kennel or pet care settings.
- Veterinary technician background.
