Petroleum Business Development

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Development Representative position is responsible for prospecting, acquiring, and maintaining commercial & residential fuels business, throughout the company's geographic areas. They are also responsible for maintaining the administrative functions required to maintain customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.

REPORTS TO: Vice President

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop existing territory volume and profitability
  • Responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new sales.
  • Present company attributes/programs to prospects/existing customers through an effective sales process (e.g., face-to-face meetings, presentations, etc.) that leads to positive results on a weekly basis.
  • Grow volume and increase profitability within existing territory by capitalizing on market and supply opportunities.
  • Work as part of a team environment by providing support to the operations department as needed.
  • Maintain accurate sales logs and records
  • Allocate about 50% of the day to developing current business and 50% to developing new business.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business, Marketing, or field experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years sales experience preferred within the energy industry commercial and industrial sales.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrating the ability to listen to others, express ideas both orally and in writing and provide relevant and timely information to clients, managers, etc.
  • Ability to work independently, within controlled business policies and processes, reporting requirements, and behavioral principles.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while obtaining assigned growth and margin targets.
  • Knowledge of the petroleum industry preferred.
