PGT English Teacher – Job Description

Job Summary:

The PGT English Teacher is responsible for teaching English language and literature to senior secondary students (Classes XI–XII), developing strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills among students. The teacher should foster a love for literature, encourage critical thinking, and prepare students for board examinations and higher studies.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the CBSE board curriculum.

Teach prose, poetry, grammar, and composition effectively using modern teaching aids and interactive methods.

Develop lesson plans and assessment tools aligned with learning outcomes.

Evaluate students’ progress through tests, assignments, and projects.

Provide constructive feedback and academic guidance to help students improve.

Prepare students for internal assessments, board exams, and competitions.

Encourage literary activities such as debates, dramatics, essay writing, and elocution.

Maintain student records, attendance, and performance reports.

Collaborate with colleagues for cross-curricular initiatives and department planning.

Participate in school functions, staff meetings, and professional development programs.

Create a positive classroom environment that fosters respect, curiosity, and creativity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Educational Qualification:

M.A. in English (mandatory)

B.Ed. (mandatory)

Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of teaching English at the senior secondary level (preferred).

Skills:

Excellent command of English (spoken and written)

Strong classroom management and communication skills

Creativity in lesson delivery

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
