The PGT History teacher is responsible for teaching senior secondary students, delivering a deep understanding of historical events, civilizations, political developments, and cultural heritage. The teacher will create engaging lesson plans, prepare students for board exams, conduct assessments, and promote analytical and critical thinking.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Instruction
- Teach History syllabus as per CBSE/ICSE/State Board curriculum for Classes XI and XII.
- Deliver engaging lessons on ancient, medieval, and modern Indian and world history.
- Explain key historical themes, timelines, sources, historians’ views, and interpretations.
- Integrate maps, charts, historical sources, and digital tools into teaching.
- Prepare students for board examinations, competitive exams, and projects.
Curriculum & Planning
- Prepare structured lesson plans and annual teaching plans (ATP).
- Design learning materials, worksheets, assignments, and PPTs.
- Integrate NEP, experiential learning, and art-integrated activities.
- Ensure syllabus completion within the academic calendar.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Conduct formative and summative assessments, tests, and oral exams.
- Evaluate answer scripts and maintain accurate student performance records.
- Provide feedback to students to improve understanding and writing skills.
Student Development
- Encourage inquiry-based learning, debates, discussions, and research work.
- Guide students with history projects, model making, and field trips to museums or heritage sites.
- Support students preparing for humanities-related competitions, quizzes, and Olympiads.
Administrative & Communication Duties
- Maintain lesson documentation, attendance, and academic records.
- Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and school events.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Support school activities, annual functions, and examination duties.
Skills & QualificationsRequired
- Master’s degree in History.
- B.Ed with specialization in Social Science/Humanities (as per board requirements).
- Strong subject knowledge of Indian and world history.
- Excellent communication skills and classroom management abilities.
- Ability to teach analytical writing, source-based questions, and map work.
Preferred
- Experience teaching senior secondary classes.
- Familiarity with CBSE board exam pattern, question types, and evaluation standards.
- Knowledge of digital tools for teaching (smart boards, Google Classroom, etc.).
- Ability to conduct interdisciplinary projects
