Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for managing the hospital pharmacy, dispensing medicines as per doctor’s prescriptions, ensuring the safe and effective use of drugs, maintaining stock records, and providing guidance on medication usage to patients, nurses, and doctors. The role emphasizes quality, accuracy, and adherence to medical ethics while catering to maternal, neonatal, and pediatric healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispensing & Patient Care
  • Accurately dispense prescribed medicines to inpatients, outpatients, and emergency cases.
  • Verify dosage, interactions, and contraindications before issuing medicines.
  • Counsel patients and caregivers on proper medication use, side effects, and storage.
  • Inventory & Stock Management
  • Maintain adequate stock of medicines, vaccines, nutritional supplements, and consumables.
  • Monitor expiry dates and ensure proper storage as per temperature requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain purchase requests, invoices, and daily stock registers.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure pharmacy practices are in line with Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Pharmacy Council of India guidelines.
  • Maintain records of narcotics, scheduled drugs, and vaccines as per legal norms.
  • Follow infection control and safety standards in handling medicines.
  • Support to Medical & Nursing Staff
  • Provide information on drug availability, alternatives, and dosage adjustments.
  • Assist doctors in formulating prescriptions for pediatric and maternal cases.
  • Guide nursing staff in preparation and administration of injectable medicines.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain computerized/biometric records of all pharmacy transactions.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports of medicine consumption.
  • Report any adverse drug reactions (ADR) to the concerned authority.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma / Bachelor of Pharmacy (D.Pharm / B.Pharm) from a recognized institution.
  • Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in hospital pharmacy (preferably pediatric/maternity hospital).
  • Knowledge of pediatric and obstetric medicines and dosages.
  • Strong communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency for pharmacy software and billing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
