Key Responsibilities1. Dispensing & Medication Management
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and legality.
- Dispense medications accurately as per prescription.
- Verify dosage, frequency, drug interactions, and contraindications.
- Provide medication counseling to patients.
- Ensure high-risk medication double-check system.
2. Clinical Responsibilities
- Clarify prescription doubts with treating doctors.
- Monitor adverse drug reactions (ADR) and report appropriately.
- Participate in antimicrobial stewardship (if applicable).
- Support medication reconciliation process.
3. Inventory & Stock Control
- Maintain adequate stock levels of medicines and consumables.
- Monitor expiry dates and implement FEFO (First Expiry First Out).
- Maintain narcotic and scheduled drug registers as per Drug Control norms.
- Coordinate with suppliers for procurement.
4. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and State Pharmacy Council regulations.
- Maintain valid pharmacy license display.
- Ensure Schedule H, H1, X drugs are dispensed as per legal requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation for audit (NABH compliance).
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain prescription records and billing coordination.
- Prepare monthly drug consumption and stock reports.
- Maintain temperature logs for refrigerator (cold chain medicines).
6. Patient Safety & Quality
- Ensure LASA (Look Alike Sound Alike) drug segregation.
- Follow infection control practices.
- Participate in hospital quality meetings and audits.
Educational Qualification
- D.Pharm / B.Pharm (Mandatory)
- Registration with State Pharmacy Council (Valid License)
