Job Summary
Pharmacy Staff are responsible for supporting pharmacists in daily pharmacy operations, including medication preparation, dispensing assistance, inventory control, record maintenance, and ensuring smooth workflow while maintaining safety, accuracy, and patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in dispensing medications as per prescription.
- Receive, label, pack, and issue medicines accurately under supervision.
- Maintain proper storage conditions for medicines (temperature, segregation, LASA drugs).
- Manage inventory, including stock receiving, shelving, stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), and expiry monitoring.
- Prepare medication orders for OPD, IPD, emergency, and ward supplies.
- Maintain pharmacy records, registers, and computerized entries.
- Assist in billing and coordination with the finance/cash counter when required.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety of the pharmacy area.
- Support audits, inspections, and stock counts.
- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Report discrepancies, near-misses, or damaged/expired medicines to the pharmacist.
- Provide courteous service to patients and hospital staff.
Experience
- Fresh candidates or 1–2 years of experience in hospital or retail pharmacy preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic knowledge of medicines and dosage forms.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions and SOPs.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills for billing and records.
- Honest, disciplined, and responsible work attitude.
Working Conditions
- Hospital / Clinical / Retail pharmacy environment.
- Shift duties, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Performance Indicators
- Accuracy in medication handling.
- Inventory control and expiry management.
