Pharmacy Buyer

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for procuring medications and supplies from appropriate resources and ensuring proper storage to maintain their quality and integrity. The buyer performs inventory management activities that ensure appropriate stock levels of medications, oversees the removal of outdated and recalled medications from supply, maintains purchasing contract compliance, promotes cost effectiveness, and works in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. This position also performs routine responsibilities of a Certified Pharmacy Technician as needed to assist the department in meeting patient care needs.

What you will do in this role:

• You will maintain strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispenses accordingly
• You will procure, prepare and distribute medications according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
• You will participate in formulary and inventory management processes
• You will assist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory and ordering of pharmaceuticals.
• You will monitor, record and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

What qualifications you will need:

• KY State Pharmacy Tech license required
• PTCB Certification required
• Hospital experience required.
• Buyer Experience Highly preferred
