Position Summary
The Pharmacy Cashier is responsible for supporting retail pharmacy operations by providing excellent customer service and accurately processing transactions. This role assists with front-end operations, inventory of over-the-counter (OTC) products, and maintaining a clean and organized retail environment.
Essential Functions
- Greet customers and provide courteous, professional service
- Accurately process transactions including cash, credit, and other forms of payment
- Maintain and balance cash register and related documentation
- Assist customers with OTC product location and general inquiries
- Stock, order, and maintain appropriate levels of OTC inventory
- Ensure retail area is clean, organized, and properly merchandised
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Support pharmacy staff with non-clinical tasks as needed
- Demonstrate flexibility and ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Standards
- Performs duties under general supervision
- Focuses on customer service and front-end retail operations
- Does not perform pharmacy technician duties or medication preparation
- Maintains accuracy in cash handling and transactions
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience: Previous cashier or retail experience preferred
- Licensure/Certifications: None required
