Pharmacy Cashier/Clerk

BANDERA DRUG is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Pharmacy Cashier/Clerk to manage front-end operations and provide exceptional support to our customers and pharmacy staff. This role is crucial for ensuring a positive retail experience, handling transactions accurately, and assisting with general administrative and organizational tasks. The ideal candidate will be professional, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Customer Service & Transactions:

• Greet all customers warmly and professionally as they enter the pharmacy.
• Accurately process all retail and prescription transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Handle cash, credit card payments, and reconcile the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Answer the telephone, screening calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate pharmacy staff or pharmacist.
• Assist customers with locating merchandise and answering general non-clinical questions.

Administrative Support:

• Manage incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and deliveries.
• Assist the Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician with labeling and retrieving filled prescriptions.
• Maintain accurate and organized filing systems for prescriptions, invoices, and general documents.

Retail Operations:

• Stock, organize, and face front-end merchandise and inventory.
• Ensure the retail area, register, and consultation areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
• Monitor expiration dates on over-the-counter (OTC) products.

Compliance & Confidentiality:

• Adhere strictly to all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail, cashier, or customer service role is preferred.
• Experience in a pharmacy or medical office is a plus, but not required.
• Proficiency in operating a point-of-sale (POS) system and handling cash accurately.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Must be able to maintain professionalism and composure in a busy environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
