Purpose:
 To provide courteous customer service and assist the pharmacist in maintaining the
clean and orderly appearance of the pharmacy area, prioritizing work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Maintains a professional and friendly manner with all patients when responding to
their requests or when necessary referring them to the pharmacists.
 Answers the phone and refers phone requests from physicians, patients, and others
which require a pharmacist’s knowledge, to the pharmacists.

 Applies basic prescription reading skills to the written prescription upon date entry.
Basic prescription reading skills include: dosage form differentiation, directions,
pharmacy calculations and product recognition.
 Accesses the pharmacy computer to obtain complete patient record (on both cash
and third party prescriptions) and verifies third party parameters.
 Inputs, accesses, processes, and retrieves data from the pharmacy computer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES:
 Maintains the clean appearance of the pharmacy area.
 Replenishes pharmacy supply of vials, bottles, bags, and other supplies.
 Operates patient sales resister by processing individual patients purchases;
accurately reads and records prices for items purchased.
 Totals patient orders; collects cash, checks, and credit cards
 Accurately counts out appropriate change to the patient.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
 Returns discarded non-pharmacy merchandise to its proper location.
 In areas outside of the pharmacy, keeps the merchandise clean, stocked and
properly displayed.
 Performs other duties as assigned by pharmacist or store management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 The ability to read, understand, and interpret technical written data.
 Ability to readily adapt to changes in schedules and work priorities.
 Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division.

Duties

• Greet patients with a welcoming attitude and assist them with medication pickups and inquiries
• Process transactions accurately at the cash register, including billing and insurance claims
• Support pharmacy technicians and pharmacists with medication inventory management and restocking
• Handle patient intake procedures, verifying prescriptions and updating patient records with medical terminology knowledge
• Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, ensuring patient care needs are met efficiently

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
