Pharmacy Dispatcher Position Summary

The Pharmacy Dispatcher coordinates and oversees the timely delivery of prescription medications and pharmacy supplies. This role serves as the primary liaison between pharmacy staff, delivery drivers, patients, and healthcare facilities to ensure efficient scheduling, routing, and customer service while maintaining compliance with company policies and HIPAA regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate medication deliveries and pickups.
  • Assign and monitor delivery routes and driver schedules.
  • Communicate delivery updates with pharmacy staff, patients, and healthcare facilities.
  • Verify delivery information and maintain accurate dispatch records.
  • Track deliveries and ensure proof of delivery documentation is completed.
  • Address delivery issues, delays, and customer concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate urgent medication deliveries as needed.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Generate delivery and dispatch reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year of dispatching experience in a pharmacy, transportation, or delivery environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and dispatch software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and prescription delivery processes.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
  • Experience with pharmacy management systems, routing software, or GPS tracking platforms.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective time management and recordkeeping skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and by phone.
