General Description
This position provides ancillary pharmacy services for patients at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Clinics. Work involves reviewing insurance claims, finding third-party insurance, inventory management, sourcing medications from wholesalers, and other duties to support the department’s objectives. This position reports to the Pharmacy Director.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Provide daily oversight, train and mentor the Pharmacy Insurance & Inventory Specialists and Pharmacy Patient Benefit Advocates within the Pharmacy Department.
  • Review and process all third-party insurance claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer requirements across multiple sites.
  • Monitor inventory trends to control costs and maintain appropriate stock levels across multiple sites.
  • Prepare monthly reports detailing insurance activity and inventory performance.
  • Create educational materials and training resources to improve the efficiency of third-party billing and inventory management.
  • Oversee the management of department invoices and ensure they are processed accurately in the workflow for the Business Office.
  • Actively contribute to the mission, vision, and objectives of the department and organization.
  • Work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Must hold a valid Oklahoma Pharmacy Technician license.
  • Ten (10) or more years of pharmacy experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of third-party billing, prior authorizations, audits, and drug utilization review (DUR) processes.
  • Strong background in inventory control and medication pricing strategies.
  • Proficiency in Liberty RX and pharmaceutical wholesale ordering platforms.
  • Experience with the 340B Drug Pricing Program preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with Tribal or Federal programs impacting Native American communities.
  • Knowledge of Absentee Shawnee Tribal customs and language is preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to work effectively with Tribal members and the general public.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple work tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform well under stressful conditions.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and stooping; good finger dexterity and sensory perception; frequent repetitive motions; as well as talking, hearing, and visual acuity are required.
  • Frequent lifting (up to 25 lbs)
  • Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Constant contact with families, patients, visitors and working in areas throughout the office. This position is subject to frequent interruptions, pressure from multiple/emergency calls and hostile or emotionally upset patients, family members, personnel and visitors. This position may work some evenings/weekends/holidays or other shifts as necessary.
