Job Summary
Job Summary: Job incumbent responsible for pharmacy inventory management and conducting physical inventories. Also assists Pharmacists in preparation of prescriptions, carries out independent tasks/jobs on a regular basis and carries out directed duties that are widely varied.

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Pharmacy, job incumbent:
1. Inventory management
a. Utilize inventory control programs and policies to achieve targeted inventory levels.
b. Recommend product selection, addition and/or elimination based on contracts, availability, usage and/or formulary management/clinical initiatives.
c. Recognize product trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly.
d. Review the inventory and purchasing needs on a daily basis and ensure the uninterrupted flow of products through appropriate purchasing procedures.
e. Coordinate resolution of all inventory order problems and communicate resolution plan with supervisor for review (i.e. back orders, manufacturer outs).
f. Prepare, participate in and monitor accuracy of all physical inventories.
g. Periodically coordinate review of inventory for expired, damaged, or overstocked medications.
h. Prepare recommended Monthly Outdates list to supervisor for approval
i. Process all recall notices. Coordinate removal of product from shelves. Retrieve notices from patients and separate notices for proper return.
j. Orders replacement/alternate products in coordination with supervisor.
k. Ensure and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
l. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
2. Other duties as assigned.
a. Prepares dispensing area for daily work (A.M.)
b. Replaces all prescription stock in work areas.
c. Restocks vials, bottles, or other miscellaneous items.
d. Restocks all pre-packed medications.
e. Stocks all counseling rooms to include tissues, oral syringes, and bags.
3. Daily Activities/Duties:
a. Prepares prescription drug items and drugs for dispensing.
b. Fill daily drug orders to include village medications for mail out.
c. Staff Pharmacy window and assist in prioritizing medication orders.
d. Directs patients as to Pharmacy Department procedures.
e. Answers incoming calls and processes appropriate refills.
f. Cleans counting machines and trays at end of each day.
g. Checks outdates/rotate stock
Other Responsibilities:
4. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Up to one year of work experience in a pharmacy or medical clinic preferred.
3. Must have an Alaska Pharmacy Technician license.
4. Must be PTCB certified.
5. Familiarity with medical terminology.
6. Prefer computer skills using word-processing software programs.
7. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
2. Ability to carry out tasks independently following oral and verbal instruction.
3. Strong computer skills including ability to create, edit and analyze Excel spreadsheets.
Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
