Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective procurement, storage, and dispensing of medications. The role involves supervising pharmacy staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, managing inventory, and supporting quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the hospital pharmacy.
- Ensure accurate and timely dispensing of prescribed medications.
- Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) for pharmacy services.
- Maintain proper documentation of drug usage and records as per NABH and regulatory standards.
2. Inventory & Procurement:
- Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
- Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and reorder schedules.
- Coordinate with suppliers and purchase department for timely replenishment.
- Ensure compliance with drug storage conditions and maintain cold chain (if applicable).
3. Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to Drug and Cosmetic Act, Pharmacy Act, and other applicable regulations.
- Conduct internal audits and maintain records for inspection.
- Ensure all pharmacy licenses and renewals are up to date.
4. Financial Management:
- Monitor and control pharmacy expenses and wastage.
- Assist in budgeting, cost control, and pricing strategies.
- Verify bills, invoices, and credit notes related to pharmacy operations.
5. Staff Supervision & Training:
- Supervise, train, and evaluate pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.
- Conduct periodic staff meetings and ensure team compliance with hospital policies.
- Promote continuous education and development of pharmacy staff.
6. Patient Care & Support:
- Counsel patients regarding medication use, dosage, and side effects.
- Support clinicians with information on new drugs and therapeutic alternatives.
- Ensure error-free medication dispensing and reporting of adverse drug reactions (ADR).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: B.Pharm / M.Pharm / Pharm.D from a recognized university.
- Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of hospital pharmacy experience,
- Licenses: Valid State Pharmacy Council registration.
Skills & Competencies:
· Strong knowledge of hospital formulary management and drug regulations.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
· Proficiency in hospital information systems (HIS) and pharmacy software.
· Attention to detail and ability to handle audits and compliance effectively.
· Ability to work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and administrative teams.
