This position is a Campus Flex position covered under the UFCW 3000 contract section 4.05 allowing this position to support multiple departments or locations.
Pharmacy Technicians are skilled in the practical, technical, and distributive aspects of pharmacy practice. They support pharmacists by performing essential tasks that enhance the quality and safety of patient care. In this role, technicians may work in inpatient and/or medication reconciliation settings as assigned by the pharmacy manager. Responsibilities include medication distribution, sterile and non-sterile compounding (including hazardous drugs), medication history collection, and supporting medication list accuracy. Technicians are supervised by licensed pharmacists who verify their work and provide coaching.

Essential Functions:
General Responsibilities:
Provide high-level customer service and maintain patient confidentiality.
Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department.
Attend meetings and provide feedback to improve workflow and safety.
Inpatient Responsibilities:
Receive, store, and manage medications according to storage requirements.
Pull medications for preparation or dispensing based on labels or automation prompts.
Prepare sterile and non-sterile products (includes hazardous drugs) per USP 795, 797 and USP 800.
Fill narcotic requisitions and maintain proper documentation.
Stock automated dispensing cabinets, anesthesia machines and clinics with medications.
Assist in ordering and inventory management.
Repackage bulk medications and batch sterile compounds.
Perform unit inspections and manage expiration dates.
Operate and maintain automated pharmacy distribution systems.
Train new staff and precept students.
Med Rec Tech Responsibilities:
Compile and complete medication profiles using EHR, pharmacy records, and patient/caregiver interviews.
Support medication and allergy list accuracy to prevent errors.
Evaluate medication adherence through EHR review and patient interviews.
Document findings for pharmacist review and approval.
Required to orient, train, and be regularly scheduled across both campuses.
Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
