- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Vocational / Technical Degree in Pharmacy technology or related field (Preferred)
- 1+ years retail pharmacy or hospital pharmacy setting experience (Preferred)
Required Certifications/Licensures:
- Registered Technician with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy and obtain certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) within one year of hire.
- Pharmacy Technician job family roles employed before August 1, 2011, may remain employed as a Pharmacy Tech/Buyer without meeting the certification requirement.
CONTRIBUTES TO THE EFFICIENT OPERATION AND PRODUCTIVITY OF THE PHARMACY:
- Responsible for assisting pharmacists in receiving, processing, and dispensing of all physicians' orders for medications, IV solutions and outpatient prescriptions.
- Transports drugs and supplies to and from the pharmacy area to ensure delivery of quality care according to established protocols and transport times.
- Training in aseptic technique and performs duties and responsibilities of an IV technician preferred.
- Responsible for answering phones, window and doors, also loading and unloading the pneumatic tube system.
- Assist in pulling out dates from main pharmacy and automated dispensing cabinets.
- Assist in stock replenishment and maintaining inventory.
- Works with pharmacists in performing monthly nursing stat.
- Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
- For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
