Job Summary: Under supervision of a pharmacist, fills physicians orders, assists with monitoring drug therapy, the stocking and dispensing of pharmaceuticals, and the control of narcotics and controlled substances.

Job Qualifications:
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Personal Job-Related Skills:
- Ability to read and write.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions.
- Basic computer skills including use of keyboard and mouse.
- Licensure, Registry or Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician; active license with TSBP.
- Experience: One year’s experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Moderate periods of sitting and standing. Lifting up to 30 pounds when handling case goods and the visual capability to readily prescriptions and labels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of a pharmacist, prepares pharmaceuticals for dispensing.
- Helps with review of drug therapy for contraindications.
- Checks drug therapy for the existence of drug allergies or food and drug interactions.
- Maintains narcotics and controlled substance records as required by law and policy.
- Assists in stock control and issues supplies to another department.
- Picks up and delivers medication orders.
- Returns medication to stock.
- Returns outdated medication to the manufacturer as directed, removes expired stock from pharmacy and stock areas.
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- Follows safety guidelines and policies for the Hospital.
- Annual TB, screening form, T-Spot or biannual Chest X-ray if positive TB result.
