Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The purpose of the Pharmacy Technician is to fill medication orders, stock pyxis machines, order medications, return medications, gather and compile data for quality improvement and reporting activities, and fill discharge medication orders. They are an integral part of providing medication services to our patients. They provide the support services needed for quality pharmaceutical care with respect for human dignity and uniqueness of the consumers served in compliance with the accrediting agencies standards of care.
The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.
Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Pharmacy Technician Board Certification or Grandfathered license with the Kansas Board of Pharmacy
Registration in good standing with Kansas Board of Pharmacy
Upon employment, applicant must register with the Kansas Board of Pharmacy and obtain licensure before functioning as a technician
Require completing 20 hours of continuing education for each registration renewal period
Preferred Qualifications:
Pharmacy technician two-year work experience preferred
Experience with pharmacy computer systems preferred
Prior medication ordering and inventory control preferred
Two-year college degree or equivalent work experience preferred
