We're looking for two Pharmacy Technicians to join our team, two in our Non-Sterile Compounding Laboratory, and one in our Data Entry and Customer Service department.

Our ideal candidate possesses the following eligibility qualifications, education, and experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED (REQUIRED)
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in Active/Good Standing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (REQUIRED)
  • PTCB National Certification Highly Preferred

Job Overview For the Compounding Technician:

The Compounding Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and collaboratively with other Pharmacy Technicians and staff to produce compounded non-sterile preparations (CNSPs) for ultimate dispensing to veterinary patients.

They maintain a high standard for the quality and controls of pharmacy processes, components, and environments during pharmacy product compounding.

They possess the skills and knowledge of practices to prevent harm to patients due to microbial contamination, variability in the intended strength of correct ingredients, unintended chemical and physical contaminants, and ingredients of inappropriate quality in compounded non-sterile preparations (CNSPs.)

They are focused on achieving individual and team productivity goals while maintaining accuracy and quality in product preparation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists the pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of non-sterile medications using appropriate compounding techniques
  • Accurately calibrates, utilizes, cleans, and maintains pharmacy lab equipment
  • Assists with recording and maintaining pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs, along with other required documentation for pharmacy compliance
  • Ensures appropriate storage conditions for all APIs to be used in preparing compounded non-sterile products
  • Ensures all pharmacy lab surfaces, laminar flow hoods and compounding room are cleaned per company policy
  • Understands and can perform basic pharmaceutical calculations in order to obtain correct doses of medications
  • Adheres to and participates in appropriate safety and quality assurance practices; capable of wearing all necessary protective gear/adhere to site’s gowning/garbing procedures
  • Adheres to USP <795> and <800> guidelines during compounding processes
  • Participates in the continuous quality improvement process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents and equipment error and/or failures.
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying order receipt, and removing outdated drugs.
  • In all activities, complies with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Exhibits punctuality and low absenteeism
  • Able to stand for ~8 hours per day as needed
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion

Work Environment:

This position operates primarily in a controlled, non-sterile laboratory environment. The position requires the use of standard office equipment and specialized pharmaceutical compounding equipment. The position entails frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Pay rate to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. A full background check and drug screening are required for this position.

Job Overview for Data Entry and Customer Service Technician:

The Data Entry and Customer Service Technician works under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist in veterinary prescription medication interpretation, processing, storage, and dispensing. They participate in record keeping, shipping and receiving processes, inventory management, and customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, Other duties may be assigned.

1. Greets customers, responds to questions and requests for information received via in-person, phone, fax, email, and website communication/orders

2. Takes and fulfills refill requests from customers

3. Counts and labels prescription drugs and supplies

4. Coordinates shipping and/or delivery of drugs and supplies to customers

5. Packages drugs and supplies appropriately for shipping/delivery to customers

6. Assists with recording and maintaining pharmacy temperature/humidity logs, along with other required documentation for pharmacy compliance

7. Ensures appropriate storage conditions for all prepared, on-site pharmaceuticals and OTC products

8. Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying order receipt, and rotating stock/removing outdated drugs in both the pharmacy and OTC sections.

9. Assists with proper disposal/reverse distribution of outdated, expired, or unsellable drugs and merchandise

10. Processes and stores prescription records and orders utilizing the pharmacy’s on site, computerized record management and hard copy systems.

11. Assists with recall procedures in the event of a medication or product recall

12. Assists with preparing and packaging medications to be sent for outside laboratory testing

13. Maintains cleanliness and order in the retail and OTC pharmacy spaces

14. Receives and processes payment for patient orders.

15. Understands and can perform basic mathematical pharmaceutical calculations

16. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents in collaboration with the pharmacist

17. In all activities, complies with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.

18. Exhibits punctuality and low absenteeism

19. Able to stand for ~8 hours per day as needed
