Summary
We are looking to fill 1 Full-Time Pharmacy Technician position that will play a crucial role within the pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Technician, you must be detail-oriented and reliable since the job has high responsibility. You must possess excellent communication skills, be dependable and have outstanding computer skills. You must be able to work independently and deliver to deadlines, while simultaneously seeking out errors and inquiring about inaccuracies. Must also be able to problem solve with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Pharmacist in Charge, candidate must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of USP, DEA and FDA guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, as well as all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and guidelines. Responsibilities include assisting the department in providing quality pharmacy services to all patients, including, but not limited to, properly procuring, receiving, preparing, packaging, distributing, and disposing of medications and pharmaceutical supplies. Must be able to demonstrate within the first-year full competency in at least 2 primary scheduled areas such as filling, processing, and billing prescriptions (non-sterile compounding, retail and Long-Term Care; order and maintain inventory, including but not limited to controlled substances, etc.
Essential Job Functions:
· Procures, receives, prepares, packages, distributes, and disposes of medications and pharmaceutical supplies while assisting the department in providing quality pharmacy care for all patients.
· Maintains an established inventory of drugs and commonly used supplies; re-orders and stocks items upon delivery to ensure immediate availability.
· Maintains competency and follows departmental USP, DEA, and FDA guidelines when filling prescriptions.
· Properly operates, troubleshoots, monitors, and cleans departmental equipment.
· Ensures Pharmacist product verification and facilitates the timely and appropriate distribution of medications to maintain product integrity.
· Maintains accurate records and patient profiles including charging and crediting.
· Responds timely to customers' needs by answering phone calls and accurately receiving and distributing messages.
· Assists with customer service: calling patients, discussing insurance and billing requirements, follow up on refills, etc.
· Understands and implements appropriate time management and prioritization of tasks ensuring timely and safe patient care.
· Assists with operational support functions, including minor housekeeping activities, inventory management, and department cleaning/disinfecting/decontaminating standards to maintain the work area.
· Conducts regular quality assurance inspections including the examination of product and equipment integrity and expiration.
· Maintains competency and follows departmental, OSHA, USP, and EPA guidelines to safely handle, prepare, distribute, and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous products safely and accurately.
· Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
· Completes all required training and competency assessments in a timely fashion.
