Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary: Pharmacy technican will perform a full range of pharmacy technician duties, including prescription processing, medication dispensing, and accurate data entry while supporting patients and providers with medication-related requests and monitoring for drug interactions and adverse reactions. Maintains pharmacy operations through inventory management, supply ordering, quality assurance activities, and documentation to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant service delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal pharmacy technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • License:
    • Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Experience:
    • One year of experience within the last 3-4 years as a pharmacy technician.

U.S. Citizenship is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full range of pharmacy technician procedures.
  • Perform pharmaceutical dispensing duties including filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling prescriptions, and entering orders into databases.
  • Perform information consultation duties including supporting new and refill prescriptions, supporting patient requests, supporting physician’s requests, monitoring for drug interactions, and reporting adverse drug reactions.
  • Perform quality improvement duties including performing drug storage inspection, reviewing expired supplies, and producing error and workload reports and documentation.
  • Perform supply process duties including placing new orders, stocking/restocking shelves, inventory maintenance, producing not in stock reports.

Work Environment & Schedule: Rotating weekends, schedule out 1 month in advance.
Sun – Sat, 0600 – 2330, includes weekends and Federal holidays.

Compensation & Benefits: Upton $29.59 + H&W if applicable.

Physical requirements: Pharmacy Technicians must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks with strong attention to detail, and use fine motor skills for accurate medication preparation and data entry. Requires the ability to lift and move medication stock (typically up to 25 lbs), maintain visual acuity for reading labels and screens, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
