Pharmacy Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will support pharmacists by preparing and dispensing medications, managing patient medication orders, and ensuring accurate medication delivery within various clinical settings. Your expertise will contribute directly to patient safety, optimal medication management, and efficient pharmacy operations. Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including compounding sterile and non-sterile medications using aseptic techniques for IV infusions and other treatments.
  • Manage medication intake processes, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring accurate documentation for patient records.
  • Prepare and dispense medications accurately while adhering to strict safety protocols and medical terminology standards.
  • Support patient care by providing medication information, answering questions, and coordinating with healthcare professionals for timely medication administration.
  • Maintain inventory levels of pharmaceuticals, monitor expiration dates, and ensure proper storage conditions in compliance with hospital or LTC pharmacy guidelines.
  • Follow aseptic techniques during sterile compounding procedures to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
  • Assist with hospital or clinical pharmacy operations including medication reconciliation, data entry, and record keeping for critical care or acute care patients.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a pharmacy technician in LTC pharmacy or hospital environments with a strong understanding of medical terminology.
  • Critical care experience is highly desirable, especially involving IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique.
  • Excellent patient service skills with a focus on patient care, intake procedures, and medication administration support.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy software systems, inventory management, and documentation standards in acute care settings.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and provide clear medication guidance to patients.
  • Certification as required by state law or national pharmacy technician certification programs is preferred.
