Job Posting: Pharmacy Technician
The Cow Creek Health & Wellness Center is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Pharmacy Technician. This full-time position is designed to enhance our commitment to providing top-notch pharmaceutical care within our Health and Wellness Center. It's important to note that this opportunity is not a remote job and requires the selected candidate to be on-site at our facilities.
The selected applicant will work under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and will play a crucial role in providing quality care to Tribal members, Native Americans, and other community patients. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist the pharmacist in various pharmacy-related tasks, ensuring efficient and safe service delivery that aligns with our mission to improve the health and wellness of the community we serve.

Enter and process patient and prescription data into the pharmacy software system, ensuring accuracy in medication details, dosage, and patient information.

Verify patient eligibility for services and manage appropriate enrollment in available programs.

Handle third-party billing processes, submitting and troubleshooting claims as necessary.

Prepare and manage prior authorizations for medication payment plans as required.

Assist in accurately preparing prescription orders (counting and labeling) for the pharmacist’s final review and approval.

Collaborate with administrative teams to leverage tribal resources effectively.

Communicate directly with prescribers for prescription refill authorizations.

Maintain regular communication with patients both in-person and via telephone to update them on prescription status and additional essential information.

Order pharmaceutical and office supplies as needed.

Prepare prescriptions for mail order or delivery services, ensuring correct handling and packaging.

Provide backup support to Pharmacy Clerks and perform clerk duties in their absence.

Operate the pharmacy telephone system, efficiently managing incoming queries and messages.

Assist with annual inventory checks and maintain accurate logs for inventory management.

Engage in quality assurance and improvement initiatives as directed.

Handle monetary transactions through cash register operation and processing of credit card payments.

Carry out additional assignments or duties as required to meet departmental needs.

Certified Pharmacy Technician License and Oregon Board of Pharmacy registration required.

Minimum of one year of previous experience working as a pharmacy technician.

Familiarity with 340b and Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) programs preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, etc.) and other computer applications.

Experience handling multi-line phone systems is preferred.

Demonstrated excellent verbal communication skills and a consistently positive attitude.

Critical ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals and groups.

Understanding of third party billing and Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) requirements is preferred.

Extensive knowledge of pharmacy technician practices and regulatory standards as outlined by the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, federal guidelines, and the Indian Health Service.

Expertise in both retail and mail-order pharmacy operations.

Ability to operate and manage pharmacy software and electronic health/patient management systems.

Capacity to learn and utilize various online wholesaler ordering platforms.

Demonstrated ability to maintain high levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and impartiality in stressful situations.

In-depth understanding of medical terminology and the implications of HIPAA on patient privacy.

Strong commitment to respecting and integrating Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs within the pharmacy setting.
