Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding
  • Manage medication inventory, including stock replenishment and proper storage according to safety protocols
  • Support patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions, reviewing medical terminology, and updating patient records
  • Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, explaining medication instructions, and ensuring understanding of treatment plans
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and LTC pharmacy standards, especially in critical care and acute care settings
  • Ensure proper medication administration procedures are followed, including aseptic technique and medication labeling
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth medication distribution within hospital or LTC environments

Requirements

  • Proven pharmacy technician experience, preferably within LTC pharmacy or hospital settings
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and aseptic techniques
  • Experience with IV infusion preparation and sterile compounding procedures
  • Critical care or acute care experience is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with hospital workflows, patient service protocols, and intake processes
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow precise instructions
  • Certification as a pharmacy technician according to state or national standards is required
