Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding
- Manage medication inventory, including stock replenishment and proper storage according to safety protocols
- Support patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions, reviewing medical terminology, and updating patient records
- Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, explaining medication instructions, and ensuring understanding of treatment plans
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and LTC pharmacy standards, especially in critical care and acute care settings
- Ensure proper medication administration procedures are followed, including aseptic technique and medication labeling
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth medication distribution within hospital or LTC environments
Requirements
- Proven pharmacy technician experience, preferably within LTC pharmacy or hospital settings
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and aseptic techniques
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and sterile compounding procedures
- Critical care or acute care experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with hospital workflows, patient service protocols, and intake processes
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow precise instructions
- Certification as a pharmacy technician according to state or national standards is required
