PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
Delta Health Center
Reports To: Pharmacist-in-Charge / Staff Pharmacist
Key Responsibilities

Prescription Processing: Assist pharmacists in the preparation, labeling, and dispensing of medications in strict accordance with Delta Health Center policies and Mississippi state regulations.

Patient Coordination: Greet patients, collect necessary health and insurance information, and manage the pharmacy point-of-sale system for efficient checkout.

Compounding Support: Assist in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounds under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Inventory Management: Maintain pharmacy stock by ordering, receiving, and organizing pharmaceutical supplies. Monitor for expiring products and ensure proper storage of medications.

Clinical Support: Assist the pharmacist in identifying patients eligible for Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and help document patient adherence data.

Insurance & Billing: Navigate pharmacy software to process insurance claims, resolve third-party rejects, and assist patients with prior authorization workflows.

Administrative Compliance: Maintain accurate pharmacy records and ensure the pharmacy area remains clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

Interdisciplinary Communication: Facilitate communication between the pharmacy and provider offices regarding refill requests and basic prescription clarification.

Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPPA regulation.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.

Licensure: Current and active Mississippi Pharmacy Technician Registration in good standing.

Certification: PTCB or ExCPT certification highly preferred; may be required within a defined timeframe of hire.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in pharmacy management software (e.g., PioneerRx, QS/1, or similar) and basic Microsoft Office applications.

Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong mathematical skills for dosage calculations, and the ability to communicate empathetically with a diverse patient population.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift to 25 lbs as needed for inventory stocking.
Preferred Experience
-
Community Health: Experience working in a Community Health Center (CHC) or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment.

Underserved Populations: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with underserved or rural patient populations.

Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in a second language common to the local Delta region is a plus.
