Pharmacy Technician III

Job Summary: Job incumbent assists Pharmacists in preparation of prescriptions, carries out independent tasks/jobs on a regular basis and directed duties that are widely varied.

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Pharmacy incumbent:

1 Prepares dispensing area for daily work (A.M.):

• Replaces all prescription stock in work areas.

• Restocks vials, bottles, or other miscellaneous items.

• Restocks all pre-packed medications.

• Stocks all counseling rooms to include tissues, condoms, oral syringes, and bags.

2. Daily Activities/Duties:

• Prepares prescription drug items and drugs for dispensing.

• Fills daily drug orders to include village medications for mail out.

• Staff pharmacy window and assist in prioritizing medication orders.

• Directs patients as to Pharmacy Department procedures.

• Answers incoming calls and process appropriate refill requests.

• Checks expiration dates monthly and rotates stock.

• Directs patients as to Pharmacy Department procedures.

• Restock and maintain Script Pro.

• Pre-pack medications from Script Pro.

• Receive daily order.

• Fill bubble packs.

• Prepares orders, receives incoming goods, checks invoices against quantity received.

• Returns any damaged goods received.

• Process daily mail.

• Process Pyxis and refill station.

• Process medication for return to wholesaler.

• Point of contact for Script Pro issues.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED.

2. Must have 3-6 years pharmacy experience and hold a Pharmacy Technician License.

3. Preferred Pharmacy Technician Degree.

4. Must obtain PTCB Certification within first 3 years of employment, or PTCB certified.

5. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

2. Familiarity with medical terminology.

3. Ability to carry out tasks independently following oral and verbal instruction.

4. Prefer computer skills using word-processing software programs.

5. Must maintain strict confidentiality.

Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
