Pharmacy Technician – Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately enter, process, and prepare prescription orders in accordance with company policies, state regulations, and quality standards.
- Assist in the preparation, packaging, and assembly of prescriptions for pharmacist verification and dispensing.
- Communicate professionally with healthcare providers and physician offices to obtain prescription clarifications, refill authorizations, and necessary patient information.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers to resolve coverage issues, billing discrepancies, prior authorizations, and reimbursement inquiries.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting patients with prescription-related questions, processing transactions, and addressing concerns in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to pharmacists to ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels by monitoring, stocking, organizing, and replenishing pharmacy supplies and medications as needed.
- Ensure the pharmacy department and work areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and professional condition consistent with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to all applicable federal and state regulations, HIPAA requirements, and company policies regarding patient confidentiality and pharmacy operations.
- Participate in ongoing training programs, staff meetings, and continuing education activities to remain current on pharmacy practices, company procedures, and industry developments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party billing requirements to support accurate claim processing and reimbursement.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to promote efficient operations, patient safety, and high-quality customer care.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to support the overall success of the pharmacy and organization.
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
