Phlebotomist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our Hospital Laboratory Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing accurate and safe blood collection procedures, ensuring patient comfort, maintaining specimen integrity, and supporting daily laboratory operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Blood Collection Duties

• Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture, heel sticks, and finger sticks following established protocols.
• Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of specimens.
• Prepare, store, and transport specimens to the laboratory for analysis.

2. Quality & Safety Compliance

• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and infection-control standards in the phlebotomy area.
• Follow all hospital policies, safety procedures, and quality assurance standards.

3. Data & Record Management

• Enter patient information and test details accurately into the laboratory system.

4. Operational Support

• Assist in managing phlebotomy supplies and inventory.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff, nurses, and physicians to ensure smooth workflow.

5. Patient Care

• Provide clear guidance to patients regarding the blood collection process.
• Handle difficult or anxious patients with professionalism and empathy.

Qualification

Minimum Intermediate (F.Sc / Pre-Medical) or equivalent required.

Experience:

1–2 years of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting preferred.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong communication and patient-care skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
• Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy clinical environment.
• Good computer/data entry skills.
