Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture, skin puncture, and other approved methods with precision and care
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and processing according to protocols
  • Verify patient identity and explain procedures clearly to ensure comfort and cooperation during specimen collection
  • Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature when necessary for patient assessment
  • Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and ensure sample integrity during collection and processing
  • Document all procedures accurately in accordance with hospital or laboratory policies
  • Assist with patient care activities by providing compassionate support and addressing patient questions or concerns

Requirements

  • Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings with a focus on phlebotomy
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and blood sampling techniques such as venipuncture
  • Familiarity with laboratory protocols related to specimen collection, processing, and documentation
  • Strong understanding of patient service principles and the importance of maintaining patient comfort and safety
  • Previous hospital or healthcare facility experience is highly preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions while adhering to strict safety standards and aseptic techniques
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and healthcare providers

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
