Phlebotomist

1. Contributes to supporting the mission of STEEMCC by ensuring that quality patient care is provided in each patient contact and during each clinical encounter.

2. Manages office laboratory.

3. Performs blood draws on patients of all ages.

4. Prepares specimens for the reference tab.

5. Handles samples of bodily fluids and tissues utilizing proper procedures.

6. Acts as medical center liaison with reference labs and couriers.

7. Instructs patients on proper collection procedures.

8. Monitors reference lab data base system and checks for missing specimens/results.

9. Processes lab results, notes and addresses "STAT" results, matches results to chart.

10.Assists with data collection regarding lab statistics for clinical reporting.

11. Ensures proper documentation for specimens, i.e. specimens are properly labeled and procedure codes are listed.

12. Ensures each specimen documents are reviewed, and sent properly .

13. Ensures lab is properly inventoried, stored, stock maintained, and monthly reports prepared and submitted

14. Responsible for lab billing review, ensuring charges, patients information, procedure codes charges match itemized billing system, follow up on any discrepancies billed.

15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Patient Registration Lead or Patient Access Manager.

Qualifications

1. Graduation from high school and technical school training leading to certification as a medical assistant mandatory, specialized courses in phlebotomy desirable.

2. Minimum of 3-5 years in a medical laboratory environment using a computerized tracking and patient data base system.

3. Certification as a Medicat Assistant or Nurse Assistant.

4. Formal educational experience can substitute for the experience on a case-bycase basis.

Pay: $35,000.00 per year
