The Collections Department at the Coastal Bend Blood Center is actively seeking qualified candidates for a rewarding full-time position of a Mobile Phlebotomist. This position will report to the Director of Donor Services.


Primary Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for registering, screening, taking medical histories, vital signs, performing phlebotomy and donor care at mobile sites. This individual will determine donor eligibility and manage adverse donor reactions. Additional duties include: loading/unloading the mobile bus, setting up/taking down the blood drive, and maintaining excellent donor relations. Must attend to donor’s comfort and safety post donation, including assisting other team members with donor reactions, etc. Responsibilities also include frequent interaction with the community. Must perform these procedures in accordance with current regulatory agencies, accrediting agencies, governmental agencies and organizational standards and requirements to ensure a safe blood supply.

Schedule : Open availability needed; must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Education & Experience :

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy experience and/or one (1) year experience in the medical/health field.
  • Certification as a phlebotomist, medical assistant, EMT, paramedic or LVN is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and customer relations skills
  • Basic computer skills

Working Conditions:

Continual climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and finger/hand use. Pushing and pulling are occasionally required. Extensive periods of donor interaction. Ability to routinely lift 30 pounds alone or up to 50 pounds with assistance.
