Duties
- Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture and skin puncture techniques with precision and care
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and processing according to established protocols
- Obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to assist in patient assessment
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety during specimen collection
- Assist with patient care by providing clear instructions, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort throughout procedures
- Document all collection activities accurately in electronic health records or paper logs
- Follow laboratory procedures and safety guidelines diligently to uphold quality standards
Requirements
- Proven experience with laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection methods
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory practices
- Hands-on experience with venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing in a hospital or clinical setting
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as blood draw, specimen handling, and vital signs measurement
- Ability to adhere to aseptic techniques and maintain a sterile environment during procedures
- Prior hospital or healthcare facility experience is preferred but not required; relevant laboratory experience is highly valued
- Certification in phlebotomy or completion of accredited training program is strongly recommended
