Duties

• Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture techniques with skill and professionalism
• Prepare and label specimens accurately to ensure reliable laboratory testing results
• Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards at all times
• Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, ease anxieties, and provide exceptional care
• Manage specimen documentation meticulously, including recording collection details and handling logs
• Assist with processing specimens for transportation to laboratories promptly and efficiently
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure all equipment is properly sterilized and ready for use

Skills

• Proven proficiency in venipuncture techniques and blood collection procedures
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to comfort and communicate effectively with diverse patient populations
• Strong attention to detail for accurate specimen labeling, documentation, and record keeping
• Knowledge of safety standards related to bloodborne pathogens and infection control practices
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy under pressure
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) or electronic health records (EHR) is a plus
• Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (e.g., CPT or equivalent) from an accredited program is highly preferred
