Phlebotomist/Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT - PHLEBOTOMIST

Certified Medical Assistant with extensive lab processing and phlebotomy skills needed for a well-established, highly regarded concierge Internal Medicine clinic located in Plymouth, MN. As a concierge clinic we provide health care services to those who are seeking care from our physicians and staff at levels above the rest. Our clinical team is seeking a patient, honest, collaborative, initiative-taker with strong active listening and communication skills to work as part of a 4-person patient care team. Our practice offers free parking, no weekend or evening hours, competitive wages, 401K, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patients health care visit by accompanying them to the exam room; providing examination gown and drape; helping to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examine room instruments, supplies, and equipment for physician.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
  • Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; other as directed by health care providers.
  • Authorizing drug refills, as directed; processing via EHR.
  • Educates patients by providing information and instructions or answering questions.
  • Completes patient records based upon provider or nursing direction.
  • Maintain exam rooms; cleaning, preparing for visits and organizing.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; providing business office with list of items needed; verifying receipt.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Perform electrocardiograms.
  • Perform Spirometry testing.
  • Complete prior authorizations for procedures and prescriptions
  • Assist physicians with patient insurance related peer-peer or appeal requests.
  • Obtains blood specimens using proper aseptic techniques.
  • Performs CLIA waived laboratory testing.
  • Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and possessing, test analyses.
  • Performs and documents quality control, instrument maintenance and calibration.
  • Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests/tasks.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Serves and protects physicians and practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Expands/maintains knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.
  • Interact with patients, physicians, and employees, in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Maintain or create documentation of job processes.

Experience:

  • 3+ years clinical CMA
  • 3+ years Phlebotomy
  • EHR – Care Tracker or non-EPIC based system

Education:

  • Medical Assistant associate degree or program completion from an accredited university
  • Formal Phlebotomy training

Required Certifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant - Current
  • CPR/BLS

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician
  • Bloodborne Pathogens

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
