Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support clinical operations by performing a variety of laboratory, patient care and administrative duties. This role is essential in ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate specimen collection, and adherence to safety protocols. The Phlebotomist/MA will work closely with healthcare providers to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced medical environment.
Position Summary
The Phlebotomist / Medical Assistant provides high quality venipuncture and specimen collection as their primary responsibility, while also supporting routine Medical Assistant duties to ensure smooth clinic operations. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, excellent patient communication, and the ability to assist providers and clinical staff in a fast paced primary care environment.
Primary Responsibilities – Phlebotomy
- Perform venipuncture, capillary sticks, and specimen collection on patients of all ages
- Verify patient identity and maintain strict accuracy with specimen labeling
- Prepare, package, and log specimens for CPL courier pickup
- Maintain and organize the lab draw area, including supply stocking, temperature logs, and daily cleaning
- Document lab encounters and enter results into eClinicalWorks following established workflows
- Conduct in clinic point of care testing (UA, pregnancy tests, glucose, flu, strep, mono, etc.)
- Monitor specimen tracking logs and ensure compliance with CLIA and OSHA standards
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding lab procedures and expectations
- Respond promptly to provider or nurse requests for lab draws during patient visits
Secondary Responsibilities – Medical Assistant Duties (as needed)
- Room patients, take vitals, and document histories in the EHR when needed
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain supply levels and cleanliness
- Assist with in clinic procedures as directed by providers
- Support IV therapy area with supplies, comfort monitoring, and documentation as needed
- Perform EKGs, WAVi brain scans, spirometry, allergy testing, and other ancillary tasks (training provided)
- Assist with front office support during heavy volume: answering phones, scheduling, checking patients in/out
- Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, safety, and infection control standards
- Participate in daily clinic huddles, trainings, and quality initiatives
- Support teammates and leadership with additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT or equivalent) required
- At least one year of phlebotomy experience preferred
- Medical Assistant Certification or cross training strongly preferred
- Experience with eClinicalWorks is a plus
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a clinical team
- Ability to travel to other Be Well clinics when coverage is needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to safely lift or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to assist patients as needed

Salary: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
