Phlebotomy/EKG Instructor

PART-TIME: Mornings or Evenings

Smithwood Medical Institute-a career college located on the campus of Memorial Hermann Hospital Southwest Location- Seeking strong, high energy medical professional and knowledgeable licensed individual who has a great understanding of the science of phlebotomy and EKG in order to teach the Certified Phlebotomy and EKG courses within a capacity to where adult learners will be able to easily understand and process within a medical training environment; the candidate must be a licensed medical assistant or phlebotomist or has taken and completed a medical assistant or phlebotomy certification program and have related work experience within the field for the past 5 years or more. Also, understands classroom management and great with working with a diverse group of individuals with the healthcare industry being a focus. Looking to fill this position quickly!

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Phlebotomy/EKG Instructor to join our educational team! In this role, you will lead engaging and comprehensive training sessions for students pursuing careers in medical assisting, phlebotomy, and electrocardiography (EKG). Duties

  • Deliver engaging instruction on phlebotomy techniques, EKG procedures, and related clinical skills using modern learning technology.
  • Develop and update curriculum materials that align with industry standards and adult education best practices.
  • Manage classroom activities effectively, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for diverse learners.
  • Plan lessons that incorporate hands-on practice, assessments, and interactive learning strategies to enhance student understanding.
  • Assess student progress through evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support individual learning needs.
  • Facilitate simulated clinical scenarios to prepare students for real-world healthcare settings.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and competency assessments in compliance with accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience teaching phlebotomy and EKG procedures in a classroom or clinical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, EKG interpretation, and related medical procedures.
  • Familiarity with adult education principles, curriculum development, and lesson planning.
  • Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds in a university or training environment.
  • Proficiency with learning technology tools used for virtual or hybrid instruction.
  • Excellent classroom management skills to foster an engaging and disciplined learning atmosphere.
  • Prior experience in classroom management and working with students to achieve educational milestones is highly desirable.
