Photographer and Social Media Manager

Full-time, 12-month salaried position with strong benefits. Position open until filled.

Position Summary

Christ School seeks an adaptable, high energy content creator who is strongly versed in photography. Our digital footprint rivals any high school in North Carolina with a combined social media following of 31,000 across all scholastic and athletic accounts. We are predominately a visual Communications Department with three of four team members being camera-first professionals. Short-form video and photos which capture the essence, and at times wittiness, of our relational-based school community will continue to be the biggest valuation drivers for us, content-wise, moving forward. This position will require flexibility with daily photography coverage, as well as some light writing needed for social media captions and supplementary help with editorial material for our biannual school magazine, "The Galax."

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Produce daily content that entertains, uplifts, and tonally aligns with Christ School’s mission and values. We are a forward-thinking, 126-year-old school rooted in four foundational pillars – Academic Rigor, Leadership, Spirituality, and the Dignity of Manual Labor. Hours for a typical school day are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Members of our Communications team work in rotation to cover special events and sports on evenings and weekends as needed.

Coordinate with the Director of Communications to brainstorm content ideas and strategy, observe social media metrics and trends, and assess effectiveness.

Display a collaborative, team-first mentality and willingness to initiate partnerships in the Christ School community.

Qualifications

· An undergraduate degree in Communications, Photography, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field.

· A demonstrable background in photography, preferably in independent schools, K-12 education, or camps. Candidates should submit a digital portfolio or links to their best work.

· Proficiency in using various photographic equipment and editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).

· Knowledge of basic communications strategy and best practices for social media content that builds and engages audiences.
