Studio Platon is a full-service creative studio led by world-renowned portrait photographer Platon. We are seeking an experienced, full-time Photography Assistant and Digital Content Manager to oversee projects ranging from commercial and editorial work to human rights-focused initiatives. This role combines photography assisting, digital asset management, post-production work, and general studio operations.
The Role:
The ideal candidate is a highly organized creative professional passionate about photography, design, and global politics. You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the studio’s visual archive, supporting the production of high-quality creative outputs, and ensuring that digital systems and workflows operate efficiently across all departments in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
On-Set Production
- Assist during photo shoots including sourcing, preparing, and maintaining camera, lighting, and grip equipment for studio and location shoots.
- Assist with rigging and setup of Profoto lighting systems and related equipment.
- Operate key lights or assist the photographer as needed during shoots.
- Ensure smooth on-set workflow, including managing digital capture workflows and file backups in real time.
Archive & Data Management
- Organize and maintain Platon’s extensive digital archive across multiple storage systems.
- Develop and enforce consistent file naming conventions, metadata standards, and archival workflows.
- Ensure all project assets are properly backed up, categorized, and easily retrievable across departments.
- Coordinate with editors and producers to ingest, organize, and archive new shoots and archival material.
- Oversee NAS and cloud-based storage systems to ensure redundancy, security, and accessibility.
Design & Post-Production
- Execute visual materials including exhibition and book layouts, editorial spreads, posters, and presentation decks.
- Provide high-level retouching and post-production support under the guidance of Platon’s photographic style.
- Prepare print-ready files and ensure color accuracy across multiple output formats.
- Work closely with printers, curators, and publishers to ensure final outputs meet exhibition and publication standards.
Digital Content & Social Media
- Manage and execute the studio’s digital content strategy across all social media platforms, with a primary focus on YouTube.
- Support and facilitate YouTube Live sessions, including technical setup, streaming coordination, and real-time troubleshooting.
- Monitor audience engagement, analytics, and platform performance to inform content strategy.
- Collaborate on editing short-form and long-form video content for digital distribution.
Website Management
- Maintain and update website content including portfolios, editorial features, product listings, and campaign pages.
- Ensure visual consistency and accuracy across all web pages and digital assets.
- Work with developers or external vendors to implement updates, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
Technical Support & Studio Infrastructure
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for studio hardware and software systems.
- Manage MacOS environments, including system setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting across the studio.
- Oversee NAS servers, backup systems, and internal file-sharing networks.
- Support iOS devices, email systems, and general IT infrastructure within the studio.
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to minimize disruption during production and deadlines.
Fine Art Printing
- Maintain and calibrate large-format Epson printers and related printing equipment.
- Manage fine art printing workflows, including test prints, color proofing, and final production prints.
- Ensure consistency and archival quality standards for exhibition-grade prints.
- Coordinate with external print labs when required.
Requirements:
Software & Digital Tools
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially:
- Photoshop (retouching, compositing, color work)
- Bridge (asset organization and workflow management)
- InDesign (layout design for print and editorial)
- Premiere Pro (basic to advanced video editing and social content creation)
- Working knowledge of Capture One is highly desirable
- Familiarity with FileMaker Pro or similar database/archival systems is a strong plus
- Comfort working with digital asset management systems and cloud storage platforms
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of professional photography workflows, particularly high-end studio production
- Experience with Hasselblad medium format camera systems
- Solid knowledge of Profoto lighting systems, modifiers, and studio lighting setups
- Familiarity with digital capture workflows and tethered shooting environments
