Photojournalist

As the Photographer, you are a collaborative part of the Communications Team supporting the government. In this role, you will report to the Project Manager and are responsible for shooting high-quality images that support the government communications objectives.

Roles and responsibilities:

Capture, edit and preserve technical, business and photojournalistic images to include portraits and events using Canon EOS still camera systems and Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge.

Shoot national magazine-quality studio portraits using a variety of strobe lighting set-ups and available light; shoot events and meetings on location in controlled and uncontrolled environments using available light and portable strobes with power packs and reflectors; and shoot artistic images to be used in illustrations and magazine covers.

Use industry-level storytelling skills to compose and deliver creative photos and write compelling captions to support images with information collected by subject matter experts (SME).

Simplify complex technical ideas and text into comprehensible captions for a diverse group of readers.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Fine Arts, or equivalent
• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain government SECRET Clearance
• Experience photography skills across a range of subjects, environments and communication including but not limited to conferences and events, official portraits.
• 3 years experience capturing, editing and preserving technical, business and photojournalistic images to include portraits and events.
• Expertise in operating digital SLR camera systems and use of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with software and camera/video equipment.
• Experience in proper light, sound, and focus for video and photoshoots.
• Communication and briefing skills.
• Ability to create and track Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMS) for project management.

Pay: $42,522.21 - $51,209.54 per year
