Job Title: Physical Education (PE) Teacher / Coach
Location: Jackson Walnut Park School, Newton, MA
Position Type: Full-Time
Grade Levels: Toddler (18 months) – Grade 6
Start Date: Immediately

We serve children from toddler through elementary school (Grade 6), offering a curriculum that promotes independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. We are seeking a passionate and energetic Physical Education Teacher/Coach who can inspire a love for movement, teamwork, and healthy living across all age groups.

Position Overview:

The PE Teacher/Coach will design and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons and activities for children ages 18 months to 12 years. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of child development, a passion for movement and physical wellness, and the ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of both early childhood and elementary-aged students. Familiarity with Montessori philosophy is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate physical education lessons for toddlers through 6th grade.
  • Foster physical development, coordination, motor skills, and teamwork through creative and engaging activities.
  • Organize and lead games, sports, fitness challenges, and cooperative activities.
  • Promote safety, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude toward physical activity.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support integrated learning experiences.
  • Organize and lead school-wide fitness events, field days, and extracurricular activities.
  • Maintain and manage PE equipment and materials.
  • Support school policies and uphold Montessori values in all interactions with students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field (preferred).
  • Teaching credential or certification in Physical Education (preferred).
  • Experience working with young children and/or in a Montessori environment is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of and respect for Montessori philosophy and pedagogy.
  • Understanding of elementary philosophies.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • A joyful, patient, and flexible approach to teaching and learning.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,658.89 - $58,599.95 per year

Ability to Commute:

Ability to Relocate:

  • Newton, MA 02458: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
