Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and executing individualized care plans for patients across inpatient, outpatient, home health, and skilled nursing facilities.
- Perform therapeutic interventions such as trigger point therapy, therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities under supervision.
- Monitor patient progress, document responses to treatment, and communicate updates to the supervising therapist.
- Support discharge planning by preparing patients for transition to home or other care settings through education and tailored exercises.
- Maintain accurate medical terminology records, treatment notes, and progress reports in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Educate patients and their families on physiotherapy techniques, injury prevention, and self-care strategies to enhance recovery outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care that addresses physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and specific needs such as orthopedics or geriatrics.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with current licensure or registration where applicable.
- Proven experience working in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and physiotherapy techniques including trigger point therapy.
- Familiarity with care plans for diverse populations such as pediatrics, orthopedics, geriatrics, and acute care patients.
- Ability to perform skilled nursing tasks with attention to detail and patient safety.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and coordinate with healthcare teams.
- Prior experience with discharge planning processes and outpatient therapy modalities is highly desirable.
