Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for planning and administering physical therapy treatment programs for patients to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
  • Responsible for delivering and/or delegating quality patient care from admission through discharge, including patient and family education/training.
  • Selects, administers and interprets appropriate evaluation procedures for patients.
  • Compiles, records and analyzes evaluation information in order to assist in establishing a treatment program.
  • Identifies problems, formulates functional treatment goals and coordinates individual patient treatment programs.
  • Records pertinent patient information in order to document changes and comply with legal and ethical standards, including daily charting, team summary, insurance justifications, initial and discharge summaries, plan of care, and patient exercise programs.
  • Records daily treatment charges and equipment billing in order to insure fair and accurate financial records.
  • Analyzes and revises treatment programs to insure continuing appropriate intervention.
  • Modifies therapeutic interventions to accommodate the age of the patient population.
  • Provides or delegates physical therapy treatment to patients, including but not limited to therapeutic exercise, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, functional activities, pain management, physical agents, hydrotherapy, and appropriate utilization of group therapies in order to facilitate patient recovery.
  • Instructs patients and families/caregivers in functional activities and exercise programs in order to facilitate participation in patients’ rehabilitation programs and follow up on discharge.
  • Provides education regarding the patient's condition and/or disease process so that patients and families will have a basic understanding.
  • Participates, confers and negotiates at team meetings to develop an appropriate team plan for each patient.
  • Supervises physical therapist assistants, rehab associates, students and volunteers.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors, Masters Degree or Doctorate in physical therapy.
  • Must possess current Nebraska PT licensure.
  • CPR for Health Care Provider/CPR for Professional Rescuer preferred.
